The first step is to photograph the car in its natural habitat, on the race track or in specialised workshops, using the lens to try and explore all its hidden parts and to gather as much detail as possible. Working from the photographs a pencil sketch is made, which is then reinforced in ink and finally coloured in using an air brush. As shown here, the final image is sharp, bold and bright, revealing the spirit of the vehicle, which almost springs to life. Preparing these drawings gives enormous pleasure: it'is like retracing the designer's work and as a drawing progresses the emotion increases, so that the final feeling is that of having not only drawn an axisting car, but of actually creating it. |
